THE OCCULT CLASSIC

The limited first edition of LOGOS DIVINÆ is the 91 count card deck–while our forthcoming base set and boosters are intended for popular gaming and tarot audiences, THE OCCULT CLASSIC is based on ancient philosophy and astrology in a way that is intended to elucidate the cosmological conceptions of antiquity.

The rise and fall of the Alexandrian Library and its lost knowledge are well documented. Surviving texts reveal it contained volumes on gods, astronomy, astrology, proto-sciences like medicine, scribal wisdom, magical papyri, Homeric epics, Abrahamic literature, dramas, comedies, poetry, and descriptions of lost artworks.

Available now, THE OCCULT CLASSIC is imagined as an ancient key to these lost libraries and cultures. Each figure depicted is based on real mythological and theological concepts from the philosophers, mystics, and poets of antiquity. Consult our guide to learn more about each and every motif, beautifully hand-painted in this codex to the symbols of our ancestors.

What is LOGOS DIVINÆ?

LOGOS DIVINÆ is not just a playing card deck; it's a journey into ancient Rome. Each card is a work of art, combining intricate historical and mythological themes to offer an immersive experience that connects you to the religious life of every day people from throughout history.

What games can I play with LOGOS DIVINÆ?

LOGOS DIVINÆ decks are versatile and can be used for traditional card games like Scopa, Rummy, and Bridge, as well as for tarot readings and divination. The unique layout of the cards is designed to enhance your favorite card games and tarot readings, through its accurate use of astrological and alchemical symbolism.

What makes LOGOS DIVINÆ different from other playing card decks?

LOGOS DIVINÆ stands out for its blend of historical accuracy, artistic detail, and multifunctional use. Unlike the Rider-Waite and Thoth decks of modern Hermeticists or the medieval Marseille deck, LOGOS DIVINÆ offers a more authentic glimpse into ancient culture. These cards are not just visually stunning—they're educational, offering deep insights into the histories of our ancestors–perfect for gamers of all ages, budding theologians, and history buffs alike.

What are these white symbols featured on each card? 🜲 ♄ ♃ ♂︎ ☉ ♀︎ ☽ ☿

The white symbols on each card, known as "Numen," represent divine presences or spirits in Roman mythology. These symbols are integral to the card designs.

☿ Mercury | ♀︎ Venus | ♃ Jupiter | ☉ Sun | ♂︎ Mars | ♄ Saturn | ☽ Moon | 🜲 Supernal Crown

In medieval times, these symbols represented the metals of alchemy, or the classical planets in astrology. They embody the emanent spheras in Hermetic Qabbalah, the days of the week in most languages, and the gods most central to the pantheons of antiquity. The supernal crown is here to represent Abrahamic deity in its Hellenistic expression. Together, they are the key to the cosmos.

How are the cards designed and produced?

Each card in the LOGOS DIVINÆ deck is meticulously designed and painted by Colin Snyder, an artist and game designer deeply versed in mythology and sacred art history. The decks are printed on high-quality card stock for durability and a premium feel. We prioritize eco-friendly materials and processes to minimize our environmental impact, ensuring that each deck is as sustainable as it is beautiful. All our cards are produced, printed, and distributed from the United States.

Is Colin Snyder available for lectures, podcasts, or interviews?

Yes–Colin is available to talk about his artwork from a number of perspectives–specifically in terms of the creation of this body of work, its dialect with ancient art history and western iconography through the ages, reflections on ancient mysteries & cultures, card game and tarot history, ancient cosmologies, the formation of and cultural-context of the earliest Christianities, or the history of western esotericism.

Our international favorites include:

SCOPA | GIN RUMMY | GO FISH | CRAZY 8s | SPOONS | BLACKJACK | STEFANINO
